Zub Records is a DIY based record label started in the mid-1980’s in Greenville South Carolina by Steve McGowan and Adrienne Meddock.
Steve and A wanted to release their original music from their band, The Beef People, and were inspired by many of their favorite bands releasing their own music on their own labels. They envisioned Zub as a haven for smart, original music of all kinds.
Starting with the seven-song Beef People Demo cassette, then releasing The Beef People Fragile/Nothing You Can Do vinyl single in 1986, Zub Records went on to release cassettes from local artists such as Evan’s Dilemma, The Orchid People, Chum Jacket, and Gary Seven.
The label went on an extended hiatus in the 1990s and has now returned and will be releasing and re-releasing catalog and previously unreleased material from The Beef People and other bands past and present.
